![]() ![]() The band's energy and vigour comes across very strongly in their songs which outline their outlook on modern life. The smokey atmosphere at The Oobleck was buzzing and rightly so. With a blend of Manchester and britpop influences, he picks and riffs his way through the repertoire adding a layer of melodies that soar and reach heights that I can only imagine that "The Beatles" would be experimenting with now if they were still about. As I stood there listening to the songs I was keeping a keen ear out for the notoriously hard to drive, Rickenbacker 330 played by Ryan Malcolm. ![]() All their songs are driven by a strong drum and bass backbone with a classic indie vocal sound and crunchy rhythm delivered by Dom Ganderton. They came on the stage dressed as the characters from the 90s carton "Hey Arnold" and ripped into the song that first got me hooked, "Bubbles". ![]() When the opportunity came up to go see them promote their album I leapt at the chance and I wasn't disappointed. A pretty decent gig that lit the fire in me again. After hearing them on the radio I decided to first go see them at Oslo, Hackney. It has been a long time since I have felt as excited about a band as I currently do about "Superfood". Being a teenager in the nineties, I grew up on Britpop and as it fell away and died, all the bands I grew up with either stopped touring or if they did tour, the magic and hunger had gone.
